As we know I got a new sister in February. Whoopdy freaking do. That is all everyone talked about. My favorite people would come over to visit me and walk right past me. You don't understand how bad that hurts. It is like a soccer punch to my puff. So for several months I retaliated. I was upset. Who wouldn't be? I drank. A lot. I smoked, slept around, didn't come home at night, my language was dirtier than dirty, and my spending habits were at their worse, QVC is my weakness, but my street walking kept them afloat.

I knew it was time to change when I saw my brother Harold Eugene bonding with the Monster. He was with her all the time. I guess he had to make up for my sluttly self. I heard him telling the Monster lies where I was. He would usually say I was building houses for the homeless or counseling teenage mothers. It was hard to change. Changing meant I had to give up everything fun for this smelly rolly polly to pull my hair all day.

BUT..... I am happy to report I am a new woman. I am a great big sister to Charlotte Lillian who I often refer to as my Charlie girl. She really isn't half bad. Actually, she is pretty great.

Faith Like a Child

Daily I strive to have "faith like a child" with my relationship with the Lord. I came across this picture on pinterest and thought it summed it up perfectly; FAITH LIKE A CHILD.

"G" is for GYMBOREE

Today was Charlotte's first day in Gymboree class.  I wasn't sure if it was going to be worth the time or the money but I am so thankful we gave it a try. She loved it! And I loved it! Besides the fact it got both of us out of the house and kept us busy it was so great for Charlotte. She loved all of the songs, being around the other kiddos, playing with new toys, seeing new and excited things, and especially the bubbles at the end. She has been bugging me all day asking when we get to go back.

You is Kind, You is Smart, You is Important

The Help by Kathryn Stockett is one of my favorite books. If you have not read it yet I highly encourage you to do so. It is certainly a page-turner that questions moral issues involved, and Stockett does an outstanding job of showing both sides of the racial divide.

Throughout this whole book it made me question myself? Would I be strong like Skeeter? Would I see the "help" for who they really were? Would I know that Minny and Abilieen were no different than me? I pray that I would be like Skeeter but I am pretty confident I would be.

My favorite part of the book is when Aibileen repeats to Mae Mobley, "You is Kind, You is Smart, You is Important." (Shown here in the movie just released)

I love this for several reasons. Kids can never hear that enough and need to hear it several times a day. I also love that nowhere does it mention appearance. Seems silly but for a girl so many things are centered around being "cute" and it is good to acknowledge what is really important in life; kindness, intelligence, and their importance to the world. So thanks to Kathryn Stockett and Ms. Aibileen I repeat this to Charlotte numerous times a day and we even have a cute reminder in her room.

It is no secret that our Charlotte likes her food and peaches are no different. Here is a recent video of her trying peaches for the first time with Josh.

For Our Furry Friends

Most Moms probably all know and love diapers.com but I am excited to share if you don't already know they recently launched wag.com for our four legged kids. It is just as fabulous as diapers.com. Today at my doorstep I received formula, diapers, laundry detergent, dog food, hair ties, and allergy medicine all free of shipping! Yes, I am avoiding this heat at all cost.

It Started Off Good

This morning was off to a good start when Charlotte and I began the day with nice early morning walk. It was surprisingly cool this morning so we took advantage.

As expected the walk made the little bit sleepy so as she napped I took a shower. As any Mom knows, taking a shower when your baby is sleeping is comparable to the pressure of taking your timed ACT test. Your minutes are very limited and count. At anytime your shower can be very rudely interrupted regardless if you are in mid shave. I guess the pressure got the best of me this morning or it was the fact I was overwhelmed with the excitement that I not only got to wash my hair but shave as well because I screwed it all up in a big way. I thought to myself, why not continue this trend of my awesome and productive morning and top it off with some new smelly good lotion, right? WRONG!

I began to hear Charlotte on the monitor and I knew I had seconds to spare to slather on my lotion. I literally soaked myself head to toe with "Country Chic" and threw on clothes. As I ran to Charlotte's room I already noticed I am not the only one slipping and sliding but my clothes are too. I thought to myself "This is some heavy duty moisturizer" but go about being a Mom. I can barely hold Charlotte in my arms without dropping her between my shiny knees. I have to go get socks because I need traction. When I am in my bathroom I look at this heavy duty "lotion" and notice the four key words I seemed to miss: TRIPLE MOISTURE SHOWER CREAM.

Well crap!  Me and my baby are now covered in Country Chic triple moisture shower cream. What now you ask???  I do what any Mom of a 6 month baby would do..... We both had a baby wipe sponge bath. Charlotte and I now smell like a lovely mix of summer flowers and a babies ass.

After that fiasco Charlotte had some peaches and teething toys while I enjoyed a much needed three cups of coffee.
