Music Monday

This Music Monday is a bit different. This one is geared more to my Momma friends so Josh and Zac I will hit you up next week. I hope you understand.

Although I have been a Mom for over a year now the role is still relatively new to me and being a stay at home Mom is something I am still adjusting to daily. My life is the furthest thing from glamorous. Most days I find the cutest lounge outfit, pull my hair back, and make my face look decent enough for public. I will be honest and admit I find myself questioning, "is my life significant?" My days are no longer filled with raising money for an inner city school or working for a U.S. Senator but they are filled with chasing a toddler around and praying for patience. And then, my question is answered when Charlotte will laugh, smile, or even hug me just because. Thank you God for sending the constant reassurance that my life is indeed very significant.

So my song choice today is by Steven Curtis Chapman and it is called "Do Everything". I really do not like the song, actually I don't like it all,  but I love the lyrics. These ring so true to me lately and I hope they bring encouragement to my Mom friends as well. We need to remember we are not good Mother's for ourselves. We are doing this for His glory and for our kids.

You’re picking up toys on the living room floor for the 15th time today
Matching up socks
Sweeping up lost cheerios that got away
You put a baby on your hip
Color on your lips and head out the door
While I may not know you,
I bet I know you
Wonder sometimes, does it matter at all?
Well let me remind you, it all matters just as long
As you do everything you do to the glory of the One who made you,
Cause he made you,
To do
Every little thing that you do
To bring a smile to His face
Tell the story of grace
With every move that you make
And every little thing you do

First Family Bike Ride

Josh and I have been in the market for a bike carrier for several weeks. There are actually a lot of options; too many options. Last night at Academy we found the Bell bike carrier and decided to go ahead and buy it so we could have a weekend of fun.

This morning was our first ride and Charlotte loved it. She kept giggling and waving at me and the cars. Our next purchase will be a softer seat for my bike. Ouchie.

She Made It

Yesterday Charlie went to Mother's Day Out. As the two of us gals were driving there I had a knot in my stomach wondering what the day would hold. I am dreaming for the day Mother's Day Out is a true "Mother's Day Out".

I am extremely happy to report she had a very good day. Her teacher is seriously so amazing and texted me several pictures of her throughout the day. Isn't that so thoughtful? My knotting stomach slowly started untwisting as I received the pictures. She gets to go to tomorrow to school as well because a little girl will be absent. I am hoping being there twice in one week will keep the momentum up. The long term goal is to get her in permanently twice a week when enrollment opens again.

And she had to call her family and friends when she got home to tell them the good news:

Charlotte's Uncle's

Charlotte is blessed with not one but with two Uncles. Luckily for us they both have impeccable taste in clothing. They sent her an Easter and Passover goodie bag and this outfit was in it. I swear it is the cutest toddler outfit I have ever seen to date. I know you are jealous they are my Uncles and not yours. Sorry about you.

Charlotte and I had a bit of a modeling shoot this morning so I could show her off to her Uncles since they live in the Big Apple. Sorry about the picture overload.

Prayers Needed

I have blogged several times about Sweet Mighty Oakes before so you might remember him. Please take a second right now and say a healing prayer for this little man and keep him in your constant prayers. He really needs them. Thank you.

You can read more about his current struggle here: http://babyortyl.blogspot.com/2012/04/update-on-oakes.html

Music Monday

I missed Music Monday last week. I am sure my 11 followers of my blog noticed and their Monday was just not the same. Well no need to freight because DJ Whitey White is back.

Artist: Gotye's
Song: Somebody I Used To Know (feat Kimbra)

Disclosure: The video is bizarre-o in a good way and the song gets better in time.

Arbuckle Wilderness

I have been to Arbuckle Wilderness one too many times. I used to travel for my old job when I worked for a Senator and that was luckily in my territory. I told Kate on the way home if she was a good girl I would take her by to introduce her to my old friends. I knew they were all very worried about me and my absence. There was a dirty rumor going around that Josh left me for a stripper so I had to clear the air.

I can honestly say I have not laughed that hard in a long time. My stomach was hurting so bad because we were laughing so damn hard. Since having Charlotte I tend to have "accidents" and I was afraid I was going to have an "accident"when we were one with the animals. No need to worry, all was good.  The animals who come to your window are very pushy and at times chasing your car to get food. Kitt wasn't so comfortable with the idea.

If you think about the idea, it is very foreign. They just allow exotic animals to roam and come up to your window to eat out of your hand. Where does this happen? Honestly I really don't care because it made our day.

Until next time our furry aggressive friends!

Pajama Dance Party

I cannot get across enough how much our Charlie girl loves music and loves to dance. I swear it is not normal. Most of the day music is playing because Josh and I both love music so I guess she doesn't have much choice to love it.

This evening Josh had music playing on his IPhone and Charlotte grabbed the phone and started dancing. I couldn't really get a good video of it because I was afraid she would fall off the couch. I will try again tomorrow. She literally danced with his phone for at least 15 minutes. And I mean danced hard.

Here is Sunday's Evening Pajama Dance Party

Success

I got home today from our girls weekend and the words I would use to describe the trip would be: lovely, needed, happy, relaxing, tasty, therapeutic, and beyond fun. I love love love love love these girls and excited for our next trip together.

The Time Has Come

I have been best friends with these amazing, strong, and loving gals for 15 years and counting:

Best friends really do not even describe what we are. When you have been friends that long you are more than "best friends". We have been through way too much to even begin to reminisce but the point is we have always been there for each other. We have never missed a beat in each other's life and I know for a fact it will always be that way. The funny thing is, the four of us are so different from each other but I guess that is what makes it work so well.

Anyways, every year we make a point to have a girls weekend. Some years have been missed due to weddings, graduations, or babies but not this year. Game on! Unfortunately, one of our key players,  Maggie is unable to attend this year. Her laughter, her public falls, and loud voice will be missed more than she will know. I will pick up Kate Saturday morning and we will head to Dallas. Cheers to a much needed girls weekend!

Thinking Of The Positives

Today wasn't a complete failure because I took Charlotte to the doctor's to get her ear's checked. I wanted to make sure her double ear infection had cleared up since her medication is out. The good news is the infection is gone! They are still red but no infection. Way to go, baby girl!!!

Such a big girl insisting to sit in her own chair

She doesn't look like a girl who just got suspended at school to me

Are you sure we aren't here for an overactive thyroid?

Charlotte Got Suspended

SO..... Charlotte got sent home from Mother's Day Out today. I got a call around 10:30a.m. explaining that she was not a happy camper and it would be best if I would come pick her up. She made it a whopping one hour. When I picked her up she was in a great mood playing with the other kiddos so I guess her morning was a rough one. Really Charlotte, one hour before a phone call?

I have so many questions running through my new motherhood brain: When does this separation anxiety get better? Am I doing the right thing by taking her? Should I change Mother's Day Out programs that have an opening twice a week?

Again, I swear if it isn't one thing it is another.

An Interesting Weekend Indeed

If you live in Oklahoma you had an interesting weekend as well regarding the weather. Josh and I thought the best decision for our family was to plan to stay at my parents Saturday night because they have a basement. So Saturday afternoon my parents picked all five of us up. Chloe and Harold were beyond giddy with the idea of a slumber party.

Unfortunately, the days of packing lightly go out the window when you have a plus one.

Charlotte's curly frocks are the best indicator when rain is headed this way

What is a weather watch party without all the goodies? Not one at the Vaughn's house that is for sure

Thankfully for the metro area we were all safe and sound but others were not so lucky. My heart is heavy for them right now. Prayers are with them for sure.

This morning our family had a wonderful and filling brunch at the club and my parents headed to take us home with home last stop. Charlotte's Pappou thought it was time for her to get a life jacket for the lake.

You can really sense her enthusiasm is the picture, can't you? I will leave you on this windy Sunday with Charlotte playing you a little diddy. I hope you enjoy it as much as she did.

Birchbox

I received my birchbox today and I was impressed again. I am officially sold on birchbox and excited for next months goodies.

1. Marula Oil: Oil with sky-high levels of antioxidants to fight premature signs of aging.

2. Tarte Lip Tint: I am already in love with this over sized lip crayon that boosts moisture levels while adding a wash of sheer pigment. The color looks orange but it is much prettier on. It feels like chapstick but gives you a pretty shine. Great for days when wearing little makeup or out on the lake.

3. Wondersturck by Taylor Swift: Smells better than she can sing

4. Yu-Be: The bestselling Japanese cream has a highly concentrated formula that heals cracked hands, chapped lips, and all other forms of dryness. This is going to the hubs.

5. MicrodermaMitt: It is an all-natural silk mitt that gently exfoliates away dead skin cells and pore-clogging debris. I will be like Charlotte's bottom in no time.

Red Heads Have More Fun?

If you have known me for any length of time you know I have a very bad judgement with hair decisions. I have been a blond, Gothic black, lesbian golfer, and even Marge Simpson. Needless to say it is best to ask for opinions first. I no longer trust myself.

Next Friday I am getting my hair colored and I am playing with the idea of going dark red. I think it could work because I am pale and have green eyes. My Mom and husband are not so sure of the idea. I believe my Mom said to me when I showed her the picture of Emma Stone was, "Just because you color your hair that color you won't look like her." Ouch Mom.

I just keep thinking it could look great and I should have done it forever ago OR it could look like hell and another bad hair decision to go in the books.

Please give me your opinions!!!

So clearly this is a awful picture of me but it is the most recent

These are some options I am thinking.... I like darker red than "orange red"
